Food Day Celebration at Missouri State University

Ozarks Public Health Institute, along with campus and community partners, is hosting an event to celebrate healthy, affordable, and sustainable food in the Springfield community!

On Friday, October 24th, Ozarks Public Health Institute will host “Food Day” on Missouri State’s campus of the 2nd floor PSU Atrium from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The event will feature both on-campus student organizations and community organizations , representing different aspects of the food system. There will be local food samples, cooking demonstrations, fun activities, giveaways & more!

Overall, we are excited to partner with both students and community members for this special event and nationwide movement. Together, we would like to educate students and community members about healthy local food options and identify opportunities to be involved in the growth and availability of healthy food to all members of our community. So please join us!

New ONGOING campaign begins August 1, 2014

August 1 st will mark the official launch of the ongoing Food Day campaign in the Ozarks.  Similar to last year, we are collectively promoting all area events relating to real food, hunger awareness and sustainable practices.  The difference this year, however, is after national Food Day comes and goes on October 24, the campaign will continue and this website will continue to serve as the area’s go-to website for educational opportunities, special events and resources.  We’re proud to be highlighting the diligent work and imperative services of numerous businesses and organizations across the Ozarks. We invite you to join us and the other eight organizations who are already part of this campaign!

There are many benefits to becoming an organizer within your business, restaurant, organization, K-12 school or college campus.

There are a multitude of events happening nationwide to celebrate Food Day ON October 24.  We are planning on doing something again this year, but are looking for suggestions from you. It falls on a Friday.

We invite you all to be a part of the Food Day committee and will follow-up soon with a date and time for our first committee meeting.  It will be open to all organizers and anyone interested in becoming an organizer.
